Ah! Yes! Besides that there was just so much more stuff, stuff got much safer (even as clothing got much cheaper in every sense.) This probably began in with the muckracking long-form journalism and fiction of the 1920s, Sinclair Lewis et al., but it is now a settled thing, which it certainly was not in the 1930s. Or at least we think it is a settled thing. There are still issues with unsafe drinking water in Ontario where I usually live. I bet those wouldn't surprise Captain America at all.
