I know this is a political contest, not a personality contest. I know that, and I know that smart and kind and lovely people sometimes come across as aloof or whatever in their public appearances. Hell, I know that despite my utterly bleeding heart, I often fail to seem compassionate in person, mostly because if I let you see a little, then you see me cry, so.
And yet, I just ...could the two spouses on this ticket BE any more more-appealing than the two on the other one? The two relationships, actually, from what we see of them?
Eight days. *is still waiting for horrible scandal or disaster*
I know! But I can't help it! Some of my favorite people in the world are English teachers, and she's just such a perfect example with her grading the last few essays on the way to the campaign event, and the worrying about what her students are paying for gas. I feel moderately hopeful about the future of higher ed in the US if her husband ends up in the Naval Observatory.

Yes! I KNOW! I've been voting Democrat a long long time and my faith in their ability to fuck it up at the last moment is high. And yet, and yet ...
Wow, that is seriously cool. It's kind of silly, but I absolutely love feeling so connected to these people; I taught English comp at a community college, too!
And no, thanks for asking, but things look bad at work for the foreseeable future. This is the busy season here, anyway, and on top of that the university where I work is quite likely to be shut by either a strike or a lockout of one of the two big unions with whom the admin is currently negotiating, and for a number of reasons this possibility is creating a great deal of responsibility for me right now. I'm at the point now where I would welcome a strike just to get some shut-eye, tell you what. But not really because it would be a great big disaster for our community. So - yeah.
Hi! Just a reminder, please fill out this week's poll, here (http://community.livejournal.com/fanaticize_c/132911.html). Our points are due by midnight PST tonight; if you're the last, please go ahead and report for us. :)
