Oh, Robert Rauschenberg is dead. I remember seeing some of his assemblages - the unmade bed one, especially - at the Museum of Modern Art when I was seventeen, and thinking that's what I want to do, that's it. And though Jasper Johns ended up being more important to me, and though I turned out to be a talentless visual artist ... well, you never forget your first loves, do you?
